Naomi Burke-Shyne

Drug Science is shocked and saddened to hear that former Harm Reduction International Executive Director, Naomi Burke-Shyne, passed away this week. Naomi was instrumental in the development of Drug Science, helping us to secure a generous Open Society Grant early in our charity career which allowed us to establish our reputation.

Naomi was kind and caring, and a truly visionary leader in the harm reduction movement. Her contributions to this space were invaluable and she truly brightened any room she entered. She made everybody she interacted with feel validated and heard, regardless of seniority or status.

Our deepest sympathies are with Naomi’s family and close friends.
